Where Science and Nature Collide

Elizabeth Rogers
The Flower Mound AP Environmental Science classes enjoyed a day at the Fort Worth Zoo observing animal behavior and the habitats created for them by the zoo.
Before our trip each group picked two animals and researched everything they could about them, including their dietary needs and how each creature cares for its young. While at the zoo our students observed their chosen animals and took notes on the design on their habitats. Now they are to design and propose the ideal habitat for one of their chosen animals, including the cost and construction of the habitat and the continued maintenance of the habitat. Each group will present their proposals in a few weeks.
