FM CDA Campus Drill and Discussion Day
Parents,
FM CDA practices drills pertaining to fire safety, lockdown procedures, evacuation procedures, and severe weather procedures throughout the year. Some of the drills are unannounced and some of the drills are announced.
On August 28th-30th, and again on January 29th-31st, we will practice all the different types throughout the day. One these six days, the drills will be announced, behaviors and responsibilities will be discussed prior to the drill, and discussed after the drill with the students.
With HS students on these days, we will allow them to help in proper decision-making within reason as they will be going to college soon and may be in situations in which they receive scant instruction but will still need to make a proper decision on their own.
With LS and GS students on these days, we will be more conventional in our instructions as to the proper way to conduct drills.
On other days throughout the year, we will have unannounced drills in which the students will have to respond to the PA system and follow their teacher instructions quickly and quietly.
Our goal is to allow the students to participate in the drills and have the information of why we accomplish the drills at an age appropriate level. They will hear the bells and the PA instructions, follow those instructions and their teacher's instructions.
If you are on campus during one of the drills, please follow the instructions. If you are in your car or in the parking lot and see a drill taking place, please help us by leaving your car where it is (unless instructed to move it) and follow along with the students remaining quiet and showing them proper behavior and procedures.
Together, we can create a safe environment for our students. Thank you for helping us prepare for situations we hope will never occur, many of which will likely not happen, but for which we all still need to be prepared.
