CDA Grad Recognized By John Brown University

Ellia He, a 2021 graduate of the Flower Mound campus of Coram Deo Academy, was recently awarded the Presidential Scholarship from John Brown University.
This competitive scholarship, worth $116,000 over 4 years, rewards students who excel as scholars, leaders, and followers of Christ. Ellia spent months researching JBU and other colleges before applying to her favorite schools. Rather than follow many of her classmates to college last fall, she chose to take a gap year, which allowed her the time to do a thorough search of schools, scholarships, and professors. Ellia found free lectures and online courses from colleges on her preferred list and sampled the product before making her final decision. She also used this school year to work as a classroom assistant for Mrs. Powell and Mrs. Kendall, honing her art and leadership skills. According to Ellia, the nicest thing about the gap year was being able to tackle the labor-intensive task of applying to schools and for scholarships without the added worry of doing a
Senior Author and Capstone presentation. Ellia hasn’t made a final college decision yet but hopes to do so soon!
