CDA Sports Have Made An Impact In My Life - Ryan Henderson

"Sports at CDA is a great way to make friends because our teams mix 6th, 7th, and 8th graders and kids on M/W and T/Th. You meet kids who might not be in your class..." CDA Student Ryan Henderson
My name is Ryan Henderson. I am in the 8th grade and play football, basketball, and baseball at CDA. I have always loved to play sports and watched my older brother play for the Lions for years. I was really excited when I was finally old enough to play at school. I like to play sports because it helps me get stronger, make friends, and have fun in a competitive way.

Football workouts can be hard, but it really pays off. Sports at CDA is a great way to make friends because our teams mix 6th, 7th, and 8th graders and kids on Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday. You meet kids who might not be in your class. Sports at CDA are a lot fun because we work hard and play hard. Playing sports at school makes me be more organized and more diligent with my homework.

It’s really easy to waste time when I should be doing my homework, but if I know I have a practice or a game, then I will be more focused and really work hard to get everything done before I leave. Playing sports has helped me in my life, because it teaches me to work hard and work with all kinds of kids. It also teaches me to respect my coaches and other players.

Being part of a team is a really great experience. Players stick together and encourage one another. You don’t want to give up, because you don’t want to let the whole team down. Being on a team at CDA is also great because the focus is about Christ. Sure, we want to win, however, the most important part is learning to be more like Jesus. I would tell all my friends to play sports at CDA.

There are a lot to choose from, so everyone can find one they like. Because I have played sports at school, I have made tons of new friends. Also, coaches, like Coach Cody and Coach Mike, are amazing! They are always willing to help you to be a better player and a better person. Everyone should play sports at CDA; you will not regret it.
