Making Music That Glorifies - CDA Band

“Making music that glorifies,” is the motto of the CDA band and they did just that while performing at two major events this month.

First, an All Region Honor Band for high school and middle school students.

Followed by the TPSMEA All Region Solo and Ensemble contest where solo and or ensemble performances where graded in front of a judges panel for State qualifications.
The All Region Honor Band event brought together some of the best middle and high school musicians from private schools in the metroplex, our students worked diligently to learn new music and take direction from a clinician they had never met before.

Under a very demanding timeline, both the Middle School and High School All Region Bands prepared for their performances in less than 22 hours time.

CDA students ages 11-18 participated in the event. “I was very proud of our CDA students! They listened well, worked hard in rehearsal and performed an excellent concert.” said Mrs. Elizabeth Bowen, CDA Band Director.

During The TPSMEA All Region Solo and Ensemble, our students performed individual solos and or small ensembles. They were given a score from 1 to 3.  1 is the highest rating.

With a class 1 solo/ensemble (which is the most difficult division of a musical selection) a rating of 1 for that selection performing students will advance to state.
