Campbell Chavez: Ballet

Flower Mound student, Campbell Chavez, has been in Ballet since the age of three and allowed us to lean into her world as a performer
Ballet is an art form that combines precise movement with the beauty of choreography. Those who participate in this art spend hours practicing to make every unique movement stand out to their audience. Flower Mound student, Campbell Chavez, has been in Ballet since the age of three and allowed us to lean into her world as a performer. Since she was very young Campbell has participated in different styles of dance. As she moved up through the levels from encouraging teachers and instructors, she decided to give her all directly in Ballet.
Campbell specializes in the Vaganova style of Ballet that hails from Russia, after doing a summer-long intensive, but also can perform the Balanchine style as well as modern and jazz forms. Each week Campbell spends hours perfecting her craft rehearsing each day to perfect and improve her technique. The fruit of her labor is highlighted 3-4x a year with different shows such as La Bayadère, Swan Lake, The Nutcracker (which last year she played the role of Clara), and Dracula. When asked about the atmosphere during a performance Campbell sites that everyone is hyper-focused on performing and when the time comes to go on stage the adrenaline hits.
Each year her Ensemble participates in the Youth America Grand Prix, (YAGP) which is the world's largest non-profit international student ballet competition and scholarship program. The YAGP scores participants on technical and artistic marks, in which Campbells Ensemble has placed 3 top 24 and in the top 12 categories. Campbell herself has also been invited to a gala in Genoa, Italy as well as New York.
Campbell knows the Lord is working in the unique position he has placed her. Before she even approaches the stage she prays with her group as well as alone asking the Lord to provide relief in high-stress situations and to lean on him for strength. She actively sees the Lord’s wisdom in failure, the perceived need for perfection and how to persevere through tough times.

Thank you Campbell for allowing us to peak into your world of Ballet.
