Latin Summer Camp for New CDA Students

Collin County Campus, 9645 Independence Pkway, Plano, TX 75025
Put your Latin fears to rest! Latin is a core element in classical education and we wish to support your child in preparing for a successful completion of this graduation requirement. New students in grades 6 and above (with no previous Latin instruction) are required to complete CDA’s Latin Summer Camp.

The July session is hosted on the Collin County Campus but is open to new logic and rhetoric school students from all three campuses. New 6th graders attend Mon-Wed; 7th grade & above attend Mon-Thurs. Advanced registration is required.

Classroom TBD. Drop off/pick up procedures will be emailed to registrants prior to camp.

Latin Summer Camp connects your child with other new students and provides a great introduction to this wonderful language. Our experience has shown that after camp, new students transition more smoothly into their respective Latin classes in the fall. Additional support during the school year is available through after-school and/or Friday Latin Labs (offerings vary by campus/grade level).

Cross-campus registration is allowed; families may select either session 1 (beginning June 24) or session 2 (beginning July 22), as best fits summer vacation schedules. Students attend the complete session according to their grade level.

Parents of new logic and rhetoric school students are invited to stay after drop-off on the first day for an informal Q & A session with upper school administrators. Room location TBD.
  • FM Spanish I Camp (See DETAILS)

    Spanish 1, M/T July 22-23 from 9-11:30 and/or 12:30-3pm

The students have the option to have all day camp or half camp, but need to bring lunch if they decide to stay all day and they have to let me know.

A little information for the camp:

    Books, Materials and General Information:
Students will need to bring a computer or tablet, paper and pencil.

Camp begins promptly at 9:00 AM and 12:30 PM each day. Please send your student to camp with a water bottle. Snacks are optional, but encouraged. Students  may wear shirts with sleeves and uniform shorts or jeans with not holes.   Athletic shoes or shoes that cover the entire foot are acceptable.

All students will cover the following topics in Spanish Summer Camp:
Students will use “The Supersite” and some basics to succeed in class. The Supersite is the Vista Higher Learning online website where class homework and other important learning tools are found. Likewise, Navigating CDA Connect to see assignments and the class Bulletin Board where instructor information is posted will be part of the camp as well.

Students entering Spanish I will also get to know their classmates and teacher while having fun at the same time!
Students entering Spanish II will also review some Spanish I during this camp.
