🩺Nine Days. Fifteen Surgeries. One Incredible Calling.
CDA junior and nursing student prospect, Olivia Lee, was offered an amazing opportunity and scholarship recently as she spent nine days on a medical mission in San Lucas, Guatemala. She was the only teenager among a group of 20 medical professionals and was able to scrub in and assist in 15 surgeries ranging from hysterectomies to sacral colpopexies to cyst removals! Mentored by an amazing team of doctors, nurses, and anesthesiologists, Olivia was given opportunities to actually cut and do sutures among other things. The team provides free healthcare for women and has established a wonderful working relationship with the local Guatemalan hospital. Getting to learn firsthand how amazing the human body truly is, Olivia is looking forward to starting nursing school in a few years and is thankful for how CDA has equipped her to be a servant leader. This opportunity supported her Capstone project of being doers of the Word and truly being the hands and feet of Jesus globally. What a blessing and an enriching experience for this young woman!
