Cultivating Beauty
By Sienna Morris 26'
If you’ve walked around the Flower Mound campus the past year or so, you may have noticed some new colorful additions that have found their home in the mulch beds that encircle Coram Deo Academy. Hard at work, behind the scenes, are the devoted students and faculty who make up the club Campus Florens.
Founded by Mrs. Psaromatis, Campus Florens strives to beautify the campus one flower at a time. Members of the club meet on Fridays throughout the school year to plan projects, planting days, and bake sales to raise money for funding. They steward their time as servant leaders, shining a light on a God-inspired beauty.
In March of this year, Campus Florens was provided another opportunity to serve. The club met with the Grammar School Nature Study classes to have a brief educational talk about ladybugs, who play an important role in the maintenance of campus flora. The younger students were able to learn about the ladybug’s short lifespan yet tremendous appetite, and how the name “lady” refers to the Virgin Mary. Afterwards, the club and classes were able to release about five hundred ladybugs across the campus.
With its focus on bringing the beauty of God to school life through rosy-colored buds and friendly insects, Campus Florens unites the best Coram Deo Academy has to offer—the classical perspective and unique exploration of such. Students with an interest in the care of plants are provided a chance to not only serve, but also uncover an appreciation for even the littlest of God’s creation. Campus Florens is not just a club, but a community cultivating the very heart of the Flower Mound campus and beyond.
