A Note from Coach Kacey Heitschmidt
Hello All!
I am beyond thrilled to be rejoining the CDA family as your Athletic Coordinator. My journey with Coram Deo Academy began in the second grade. This school has shaped my life—how I think, how I choose to live, and now, praise God for His good plan, my future as well.
During my time as a student at CDA, I immersed myself in athletics and extracurricular activities. Growing up, I played soccer, softball, basketball, swim, and volleyball. In my senior year, I served as the Senior Class President, the yearbook editor, and as captain of three varsity teams. I took piano lessons, sang in the select choir, and attended Friday art classes. Each activity brought sweet memories with people from different grades, backgrounds, and personalities. Basketball made me physically tougher. Being the only pitcher in softball for four years made me mentally stronger. Each team, with its unique strengths and weaknesses, shaped me into not just a stronger athlete but a person of stronger character and faith. Being a multi-sport athlete fueled my ability to continue playing volleyball through college and ultimately abroad.
After graduating from CDA in 2020—a senior year cut short by the coronavirus—I pursued experiences that would expand my perspective. After living the same day over and over for what felt like months…I decided that if the world ever emerged from COVID, I was going to go see as much of it as I could.
At Texas A&M, I studied English, history, and business, and completed an internship at Walt Disney World’s EPCOT. In 2024, I moved to England to play volleyball and earn a master’s degree in International Law and Global Challenges at Newcastle University. Playing volleyball in England allowed me to travel the world, and as I traveled, I saw God’s goodness imprinted on every place I went. My travels around the globe hold a special place in my heart, but Flower Mound is my home, and CDA is my place.
Substituting here this past fall reminded me what makes this school special: the students. These children are truly exceptional—kind, warm, loving, and tender-hearted. I am excited to take on the role of Athletic Coordinator and use my experiences and energy to promote athletics in a way that highlights the joy of sports, the value of playing with friends, and the character-building perseverance and discipline that prepares our students to confidently share the gospel worldwide.
I look forward to serving this community and working alongside each of you!
