  • 1. Get to Know Us

Because we want you to make the best decision for your child, we ask that at least one parent to come to an admissions event. Please go to Inquire to learn more and make a reservation. In addition, as our collaborative model requires a clear understanding and communication between all parties, we request that you review our Reference Manual for Parents and Students where you will find most of our policies and expectations.

For 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades, the application fee is $200 and parents pay the admissions testing company (ERB) directly for the Independent Schools Entrance Exam (ISEE).

  • 4. Complete Admissions Testing

Upon submission of the online application and application fee, the admission staff will contact you to schedule the appropriate test for your child. Admissions test sessions for Grammar School candidates typically are offered on a weekday at the applicant's campus beginning in December or January.

These tests are scored “in-house” so results are available very quickly and will be discussed at the admissions interview. Generally, wait-listed students will not be tested unless an open seat has been confirmed.

    PreK and Kindergarten

The Missouri Kindergarten Inventory of Developmental Skills (KIDS) test is designed for assessing children ages 4-5 years old. It is administered by an early-education specialist in a one-on-one session. No special preparation is necessary. The following areas of development are surveyed:
    • Number Concepts
    • Language Concepts
    • Auditory Skills
    • Visual Skills
    • Paper and Pencil Skill
    • Gross Motor Skills
CDA uses this assessment to help determine a student’s readiness for Kindergarten. Therefore, this assessment is administered to all Kindergarten applicants as a pre- admission test but not given to new PreK students until January of their PreK school year.

    Kindergarten applicants, on test day:
    • Please arrive 5 to 10 minutes prior to your scheduled test time and check in at the front desk.
    • Testing will take approximately 45 minutes.
    • Confirm with the admissions coordinator that your child's file is complete so your family interview with the School Principal can be scheduled.
    Grade 1

Applicants to Coram Deo Academy’s 1st grade are administered an abbreviated Stanford Achievement Test. Candidates also complete a brief writing sample as part of their assessment.

    On the test day:
    • Please arrive 5 to 10 minutes prior to your scheduled test time and check in at the front desk.
    • Testing will take approximately 90 minutes.
    • Confirm with the admission coordinator that your child's file is complete so your family interview with the School Principal can be scheduled.
    Grades 2, 3, and 4

Applicants to Coram Deo Academy’s 2nd through 4th grades take the Independent Schools Entrance Examination (ISEE). Parents register and pay the testing fee ($140) directly to the testing company (ERB). Your admissions coordinator will provide registration details.

  • 5. Attend your Family Interview

After your child's file and testing are complete, you will be scheduled for an interview with the grammar school principal. Both parents must accompany the applicant(s) to the interview which typically lasts 30-45 minutes. Current families applying for a new sibling need only one parent at the interview; however, both are most welcome to attend if desired.
  • 6. Admissions Decisions

Admissions decisions will be processed beginning in February (or as soon thereafter as the application file is complete). Late applicants will be considered if space is available on a rolling admission basis. To secure a seat for your student, parents must complete an online Enrollment Covenant upon acceptance, select a payment option and set up a Smart Tuition account for billing. The one-time New Student Enrollment Fee will be included in the tuition invoice.
  • 7. Register for Electives (grades K and above)

CDA offers a rich selection of elective classes designed to complement grammar school core learning with the flexibility of building a two, two & a half, or three days per week schedule. Electives begin in Kindergarten and are optional through 8th grade.

New students must complete the admissions process and be enrolled in order to register for electives. Elective tuition is non-refundable after July 31. The complete electives policy, including drop/change fees, may be found here. Please contact your school office/registrar for assistance with electives questions and schedule adjustments.

What's Next?

After your child has been accepted, the following events and information will help you prepare for a successful and smooth transition to Coram Deo Academy.

List of 4 items.

  • 1. Events for New Families

Once enrolled, you will be invited to join campus specific events designed to help new families acclimate to Coram Deo Academy and connect with others in our community. Typically held in late spring or early summer, new and returning families get together to learn how to prepare for the coming school year.
  • 2. Order Books and Uniforms

Although some curriculum items are distributed in the classroom, the majority of books are purchased by the family. Summer Reading information usually is available in May. The School Year Book List generally is published in early July. Parents of newly enrolled students will receive information on how to access the book list when it is released. Parents are responsible for ordering uniforms and procuring classroom specific supplies before the start of school.
  • 3. Academic Preparation

Summer reading is required for students entering grades PreK - 4. Occasionally extra math, reading or handwriting practice may be recommended. If so, this will be discussed in the admissions interview.
  • 4. Attend Parent Orientation & Meet the Teacher Day

Because of the collaborative nature of CDA's model, Parent Orientation is mandatory; this ensures the best possible start to our educational partnership. Orientations typically are scheduled the week prior to the first day of school. Specific dates/times vary according to grade level/campus.

The grammar school sessions are for parents only; please make childcare arrangements and watch for email announcements with details from your school principal.
