Speech & Debate
Speech & Debate gives Coram Deo high school students opportunities to craft their speaking abilities logically, persuasively, and clearly. They then compete, using those talents for God's glory and some earthly trophies, too.
Over the course of the year students are given the opportunity to hone their skills in:
- Extemporaneous Speaking (current events both domestic and international)
- Public Forum Debate
- Congressional Debate
- Oratory and a variety of other speaking events.
In class, students are given opportunities to present in-class speeches, debates, and other fun events. Out of class, they travel to tournaments where the competition is fierce and sharpens skills to the finest. There are plenty opportunities for speaking, argumentation and debate. CDA students have attended both state and national tournaments.
Scholarship opportunities exist through National Forensic League, Texas Forensic Association, and Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools leagues.
