Second Grade History
Greece, Rome and the New Testament
History is His story. We can see God in control by looking at history. We learn how to live and to trust God when we study His story.
The Bible gives us the framework for all of History, from the very beginning until the prophesied end of the world. God expects us to learn practical and spiritual lessons from the study of past events as well as see His hand in the affairs of men. As Christians we are ambassadors of the gospel to the whole world. Our understanding of people and the corresponding geography is useful for that purpose.
Veritas History in second grade begins with the Minoan Culture in 2200 B.C. and ends with the End of the Western Roman Empire in 476 A.D. This includes the geography of Ancient Greece and Rome as well as the surrounding Mediterranean Sea area.
Students also learn the Greek alphabet and will be able to recite the Nicene Creed from memory.
