Peggy Flemming's Biography

Peggy Fleming was born in Fort Worth, Texas and raised in Apalachin, a tiny village in Upstate New York.  Returning to Texas as quickly as she could, Peggy earned an undergraduate degree from Southern Methodist University with a major in English literature and a minor in Russian.

After college, she worked for NASA as a Russian translator and technical editor. Peggy took part in such projects as the Apollo 17 moon mission, Skylab, and the Apollo-Soyuz joint project with the Soviet Union.  She then continued her career in technical editing and Russian document preparation at Brown & Root in Houston.

In a career shift, Peggy took public relations jobs with Southern Methodist University and the Dallas County Community College District. Peggy also taught part-time in the DCCCD English department and led an informal class in Russian conversation for journalists covering the 1980 Moscow Olympics.

So that she might home school her two children, Peggy began to work part-time as a freelance writer as well as English and Latin teacher in an educational cooperative as well as a classical Christian school.  In 2004, she began teaching 7th grade English and Latin at CDA’s newly opened Carrollton Campus. As the grade levels and students progressed, Peggy continued to teach the students both subjects.

Peggy’s service to CDA also includes: initiating the Academia Parentibus courses to assist parents with their students’ learning: contributing study guide materials to the English curriculum: writing a manual on teaching the progymnasmata to the grammar grades; and serving as the Collin County Lead Latin Teacher.

She has been married to her husband Ken for over 25 years.  They met in the process of forming a traditional Irish band, Tinker’s Dam; and have been performing together professionally for over 30 years; currently in the band Jigsaw.  Peggy and Ken attend Trinity Fellowship Church, where she teaches 3rd and 4th grade Sunday school.
