To fulfill expressed needs and expand CDA’s outreach, a full-time Logic School option will be available at the Carrollton and Flower Mound locations in the 2008-2009 school year. Five-day-per-week oversight eventually will be offered at the Dallas campus as well.
Full-time students in grades 5-8 will attend classes on a “core day” (either Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs depending upon availability) and work on assignments under the supervision of a professional educator on campus in the Study/Tutorial Center the balance of the week. Athletics and a full day of Friday electives are included in the tuition.
Full-time Five-Day-per-Week Program
The Logic School Study/Tutorial Center allows a student to remain on campus in a supervised setting during all regular school hours and consists of:
The Study/Tutorial Center supervisor will be a qualified teacher who will monitor student progress hour-by-hour. The supervisor will plan academic work times in the morning, supervised play during the morning and afternoon, and active learning times in the afternoon. Students will join the Logic School lunch time and are encouraged to bring healthy snacks/drinks for study breaks. The intent is to create a studious but welcoming atmosphere for students to work individually as well as in small groups.
Math lessons will be graded on campus so corrections can be made during the Learning Center day. The Study/Tutorial supervisor will endeavor to grade other subjects when possible but parents may need to grade Shurley Grammar, Wordly Wise, etc. at home. Ordinarily, the majority of schoolwork will be completed during the Learning Center day; however, a student’s pace and productivity are affected by the temperament and strengths/weaknesses of each individual.
Parents are encouraged to remain involved in the student’s learning by reading literature assignments and discussing history/literature/science with their child at home. Flashcards or other study guides requested by the classroom teachers should also be made at home and brought to the Study/Tutorial Center to make maximum use of time in the center.
