Admissions Testing for Students Entering Grades 5-12

How is testing scheduled?
Applicants for grades 5-12 take the Independent Schools Entrance Exam (ISEE) which is scheduled through the Educational Records Bureau (ERB.) Parents may pick up an ISEE Student Guide and instruction letter at any Coram Deo Academy campus (click here to see the instruction letter)

Can the application fee be paid on the test day?
No, the non-refundable application fee must be received prior to testing. Payment of the $78 fee to the ERB is due with the test registration (see below); $125 application fee is paid directly to Coram Deo Academy by credit card when submitting the online application or by check (made payable to CDA) mailed/hand delivered to the appropriate campus. Please clearly indicate applicant’s name, grade level and campus on all correspondence.

How do we register for the ISEE?
Registration for the ISEE must be done through the mail. The registration form is located in the envelope in the center of the ISEE Student Guide which can be picked up at any CDA campus. The registration deadline for all ISEE tests is at least three weeks prior to the testing date. (See also www.erbtest.org.)

Can I still register for the test if I miss the registration deadline?
There are two types of late registration, both requiring an additional fee. Both options are thoroughly explained in the ISEE Student Guide and are summarized below.

  1. For up to one week after the official registration date closes, you may register late by phone or fax (space permitting.) There is an additional fee of $20 assessed for this option, bringing the total cost for the test to $98. You may call 800-446-0320 to register late by phone. If you choose to fax your late registration, please complete the form found on page 51 of the student guide and fax it to 919-682-5775. The $98 fee for both of these options is payable by Visa, Master Card, or American Express only.
  1. Walk-In registration (registering on the date of the test) is available on a very limited basis at Coram Deo Academy test sites. Walk-In registration is on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be assured due to space limitations. There is an additional $30 fee for this service, bringing the test registration fee to $108. If you are interested in testing on a walk-in basis, you must request a spot in advance. Please call Kathy Schaefer at 972-691-5648 ext. 311 or email at kschaefer@coramdeoacademy.org to see if space is available. If we can accommodate your student, you must bring the completed registration form, the $108 test fee (payable by check, Visa, Master Card, or American Express) and a student ID with you on the day of testing.

Where and when is testing offered?
ISEE testing will be offered monthly at Coram Deo Academy for students entering grades 5-12. The primary test site is the Flower Mound Lower School Campus (click here for map/directions). In May and July, testing will be offered at the Carrollton Campus as well (click here for map/directions). Please refer to the testing schedule below for more information.

What if I can’t test on my scheduled date?
If you can not test on your scheduled date, please notify Kathy Schaefer, the Coram Deo Academy Testing Coordinator, by phone 972-691-5648 ext. 311 or email (kschaefer@coramdeoacademy.org.)  In addition, you should schedule an alternate date as soon as possible from the ISEE Operations Office (800-446-0320). The cost of rescheduling a test is $15. Payment may be charged to a Visa, MasterCard or American Express account.

How long will the test session last?
Students taking the ISEE are asked to arrive at the testing site between 8:30 and 8:45 AM. They will finish between 12:15 and 12:30 PM.

May my child take the ISEE at a location other than Coram Deo Academy?

13. Complete the billing information to pay $78 online via credit card.
14. On the day of testing, bring the Verification Letter from ISEE, two #2 pencils, a black or blue ink pen, a small snack, a drink and a sweatshirt/sweater since the testing room can be cool.

What does my child need to bring?
Students taking the ISEE are asked to bring two number 2 pencils, a blue or black ink pen, a small snack and drink, and a sweater in case the testing room is cool. Students also must bring their verification letter (received in the mail from Educational Records Bureau.)

What should my child wear?
Students taking the ISEE are invited to dress casually, but asked not to wear jeans.

Can supporting documents be turned in on the test day?
It is best to mail or hand deliver supporting documents to the campus to which your child is applying rather than bringing them on the test day. All documentation must be turned in prior to the admission interview.

Should a parent stay on campus during the test session?
Since students will be on campus for approximately four hours, parents of students taking the ISEE are asked not to stay during testing.

When we will get the test results?
ISEE test results are usually received by Coram Deo Academy and parents within one week of testing. They will be reviewed by the School Director with parents/student during the admission interview.

Who do I contact if I have questions about the ISEE?
Please contact Kathy Schaefer, Coram Deo Academy Testing Coordinator, at the Administration Offices (972-691-5648 ext. 311) or by email at kschaefer@coramdeoacademy.org . You may also direct general questions to your campus admission coordinator.
