Lisa Hollin
After graduating from Baylor University with a degree in Elementary Education, specializing in early childhood, Lisa Hollin taught in Coppell ISD for 8 years at several schools including Wilson Elementary which earned the National Blue Ribbon School Award in 1998. She served as the campus Science Content Specialist establishing and managing the campus science lab. Selected as a grade level team leader, her further responsibilities included supervising and mentoring teachers. Elected by her peers to the Site Based Decision Making Team, Lisa served as the staff development planner. And at the request of her principal, she created a new writing curriculum for the third grade.
Lisa was also invited to join the Coppell Teacher Training Cadre as a district trainer and received training and presented workshops on portfolio assessment, instructional strategies for teaching life science, and leadership skills. She was trained by the Texas Education Agency as the district representative in the technique of holistically scoring children’s writing. And as a District Technology Trainer, Lisa was responsible for evaluating teacher performance in the area of technology use.
Lisa met her husband Jeff at Prestonwood Baptist Church and after the birth of their first child moved to Frisco ISD to be closer to home. She taught a 4th grade class and served as the team leader and mentored teachers. In her second year there, Lisa was chosen as a Technology Integration Specialist where she co-created and co-authored the scope and sequence and curriculum for technology use in grades K-5.
After 10 successful years in education, Lisa was blessed to be able stay home and be a full-time mother. As she and Jeff prayerfully considered their own children’s education, they were led to home schooling. Through Chandra Keller’s encouragement, they attended an Academy Preview and came to learn about Coram Deo’s model and the incredible value of classical Christian education. In the middle of the presentation, her husband leaned over and asked, “Why would anyone not do this?” They enrolled that week and their family has been part of CDA for 7 years.
Lisa began substitute teaching for Coram Deo in 2007and continued on to teach 5th grade and 7th grade Algebra. The last two years, she has served as the At Home Advisor for CDA home school families with students ranging from 1st through 7th grade. She was responsible for pacing, planning, and creating assignment sheets every week for seven grade levels as well as supporting parents with any academic need. She says the best part of her job was the students and families she was privileged to partner with in educating their children for the glory of God.
