The House of Wright

The House of Wright is named for Orville and Wilbur Wright, the first men ever to successfully fly an airplane. After Samuel Langley's failure and spending nearly $100,000, the state department said that flight would take years of more research and thousands of dollars. Eight days later with the cost of $1,000, on a field in Kitty Hawk the Wright Brothers success made a poignant example. Ingenuity, faith and determination can surmount many obstacles.

The House shield and colors

The colors of black and gold represent constancy and generosity and elevation of mind. The griffin on the shield signifies virtus (courage) and the fire firmitas (tenacity).

The House Motto

" Audentia Fortuna Juvat" - "Fortune assists the daring."
