The House of Wallace
Sir William Wallace, was chosen as an exemplar of military leadership. He is known best for leading a resistance during the Wars of Scottish Independence. After great military feats, Wallace was named the Guardian of Scotland. Wallace's fierce courage, determination and warrior heart has been immortalized by authors in poems and stories; and for those same characteristics this house chose him as their exemplar.
The House Shield and colors
Purple represents royal majesty, sovereignty and justice and gold symbolizes generosity and elevation of mind. On the shield, the griffin signifies virtus (courage) and the carpenter squares nobilitas (nobility)
The House Motto
"Ignis aurum probat, miseria fortes viros." - "Fire tests gold; adversity tests strong men."
