The House of Lewis
C.S Lewis, the theologian and author, was chosen as this house's exemplar. A member of the Inklings, Lewis wrested with the great ideas alongside J.R.R Tolkein and many other great Oxford University thinkers. His works include The Chronicles of Narnia, Mere Christianity, The Great Divorce and many more works that express the nature of God, the beauty of God, and the adventure of life.
The House Shield and colors
Maroon signifies patience in battle and yet victorious. The color silver symbolizes peace and sincerity. On the shield of Lewis the anchor shows auctoritas (spiritual authority), the falcon firmitas (tenacity), the tree represents the Tree of Life, and the unicorn virtus (courage).
The House Motto
"Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam"- To the Greater Glory of God
