Coram Deo Academy selects architect and design-build firm for development of the Flower Mound campus.

Trent Clark, Registered Architect and owner of Plano based CrownRich Design-Build has agreed to take the design lead on development of the academy’s new fifteen-acre campus in Flower Mound. With forty years of experience in design-build and specific experience in school design Mr. Clark and CrownRich, offer a valuable package to CDA. Trent is a family man, believes in the value of Christian education and attends Crossroads Bible Church in Double Oak.

The firm has begun with as-built and renovation plans and has approached the Town about obtaining a Certificate of Occupancy to use the existing buildings for educational purposes. Upon completion CrownRich will begin campus planning and illustrative site plans and building elevations.

Coram Deo Purchases Campus

Representatives from Coram Deo Academy and The Church at Wichita Creek signed a contract of sale Monday for Coram Deo's purchase of the church's 15 acre campus in Flower Mound. Both the church and the school are hopeful to close by the first week of July. After closing the sale, remodeling of the existing building will begin to ready it for occupancy.

“I think it's the most wonderful thing to happen to both of us. It has been a real treat doing business with a fine Christian organization like Coram Deo Academy.” said Ken Hodge a local real estate developer and member of the church's board of trustees. Senior Pastor David Sylvester added that “The Church at Wichita Creek is very excited about the sale of our property to Coram Deo Academy and about the joint usage of the facility for both the church and the school in the future. We are preparing for the eventual relocation of our church in Flower Mound and we pray great blessings on the church as well as on Coram Deo Academy who we consider to be our partner in ministry.”

Coram Deo Academy had its beginnings in Flower Mound six years ago at Christ Presbyterian Church. To accommodate Coram Deo's continued growth the school moved to larger facilities in Highland Village and Bartonville. “We are thrilled to have a campus on which to develop our Flower Mound Schools” said Coram Deo President and Headmaster Rodney J. Marshall.

Coram Deo Academy will open its new facility when classes resume in August for the 2005-2006 academic year. The Academy plans to conduct its Kindergarten through 6th grade program at their new location the first year, with plans to move its 7th through 12th grade program after the first semester or next summer.
The school will keep it's constituents informed every step of the way. Please rejoice with us in God's great provision.

Wichita Creek Congregation Votes to Sell Flower Mound Campus
to Coram Deo Academy

Sunday, May 1, The Church at Wichita Creek voted to sell its campus to Coram Deo Academy. One month ago, The Church and The Academy signed a Letter of Intent to Sell/Purchase the campus. The Church then entered a month of prayer and discussion culminating in the positive vote. During the same period, CDA has pursued third party financing, discussed the project with architects, engineers and Town of Flower Mound planning staff, toured the facility with its leadership/management team and reflected on strategies for a phased move to and development of the site. Now it appears probable that the sale will close in about a month. CDA will make necessary improvements in June, move the Lower School this summer and the Upper School at Christmas. For this, we give thanks to God.

Coram Deo Academy will proceed as quickly as possible toward the purchase while keeping faculty, staff and parents informed of each step. In May, CDA will sign the purchase contract, finalize financing and plan improvements. The parties should sign a purchase contract within one week. Terms of the contract include a $1,375,000 purchase price, $1,000,000 third party financing, $375,000 seller second mortgage and leaseback to the Church for a few years of use on Sundays and Wednesday nights. An additional $100,000 will provide for replacement of the septic system, addition of a fire hydrant, enlarged classrooms and temporary classrooms buildings pending permanent expansion. We seek $1,100,000 in bank financing for the purchase and improvements. One bank has committed $900,000 and two banks near a decision on the total needed. We hope for bank commitment this week so that we do not need to approach CDA families for the remainder on short notice, something we have never done in our six years of operation. Please pray with us to this end.

The Flower Mound Lower School (GK-6) should move into the main classroom building this summer. This 11,200 SF structure includes a drop off circle, foyer, dining and great room with a fireplace and perfect for our history festivals, commercial kitchen, classrooms, offices, storage and a fenced outdoor playscape immediately behind the building. Before moving in CDA will enlarge several of the classrooms. Containing the LS thusly will provide a safe joyful educational environment for students and faculty.

The Upper School (G7-12) should begin the school year at its current location in Highland Village and move to the new campus at Christmas. The 6,700 SF assembly and recreation facilities will provide the central gathering place for a cluster of temporary classroom buildings totaling an additional 6,000 SF. CDA will obtain a permit for these classrooms and serve notice to its current proprietor this summer, install the buildings in November and move the first week of Christmas break. This planned midyear adjustment should transfer students and faculty to classrooms for the exclusive use of CDA. The multipurpose building will provide an enjoyable space for midday recreation, dining and assembly, for volleyball and basketball practice and for theatrical and musical performances and a student/faculty art gallery. The outdoor practice field will provide another bonus for our active teens. With proper planning, we expect a seamless transition.

Unifying the Flower Mound area Lower and Upper Schools has been our goal since growth split them onto two campuses three years ago. We pray this move will allow the older students the joy of joining the younger on the campus while maintaining its distinctive US culture. May God bless the work of our hands.
