Graduation 2010
The evening of May, 17th was packed full of pomp, circumstance and celebration for 35 Coram Deo Academy (CDA) seniors. CDA’s 2010 Salutatorian, Beth Elaine Lipton, spoke that night on how diverse and unique her classmates are. Proof of that fact quickly followed. As the diplomas were received and graduates’ future plans announced, the class’ variety became quite clear; some planning to be physicists and engineers, one heading across the world to study Visual Communication Arts in Switzerland and one the Performing Arts in Australia, one preparing to learn the subtle and delicate art of pastry making, and others that of filmography and photography.
These students are well set on their way, having garnered $2.5 million in scholarships so far, averaging $70,000 each. 10 will be studying in honors colleges and one will be suspending his academics to serve in Young Life.
Class Valedictorian, Grace Morriss, agreed that the class’ way was well prepared and well provided. She said that their knowledge and ownership of their faith would be their greatest aid and guide as they began on their individual journeys. Congressman Burgess also spoke to the CDA graduates on the role that faith will play in their lives. He assured the graduates that when life twists and transforms their faith will be there, a firm foundation on which to stay standing.
Coram Deo Academy is a classical Christian PreK-12 academy. At CDA, all subjects are taught chronologically from the beginning of history to now. While students are studying a certain period in history they also are learning about that time’s art, music, literature, religion and its discoveries in science and mathematics; so that knowledge is understood within context.
