FAQ About Grades 5-12 Testing

Q. How is testing scheduled?

A. Applicants for grades 5-12 take the Independent Schools Entrance Exam (ISEE) which is scheduled through the Educational Records Bureau (ERB.) Parents may pick up an ISEE Student Guide and instruction letter at any Coram Deo Academy campus.

Q. Can the application fee be paid on the test day?

A. Payment of the $95 fee to ERB is due with the test registration (see below); the $125 application fee is paid directly to Coram Deo Academy by check (made payable to CDA) mailed/hand-delivered to the appropriate campus. Please clearly indicate applicant’s name, grade level and campus on all correspondence.

Q. How do we register for the ISEE?

A. Registration for the ISEE must be done through the mail. The registration form is located in the envelope in the center of the ISEE Student Guide which can be picked up at any CDA campus. The registration deadline for all ISEE tests is at least three weeks prior to the testing date. (See also www.erbtest.org.)

Q. Can I still register for the test if I miss the registration deadline?

A.  There are two types of late registration, both requiring an additional fee. These options are thoroughly explained in the ISEE Student Guide and are summarized below.

1. For up to one week after the official registration date closes, you may register late by phone or fax (space permitting.) There is an additional fee of $20 assessed for this option. You may call 800-446-0320 to register late by phone. If you choose to fax your late registration, please complete the form found on page 51 of the student guide and fax it to 919-682-5775. The fee for both of these options is payable by Visa, Master Card, or American Express only.

2. Walk-In registration (registering on the date of the test) is available on a very limited basis at Coram Deo Academy test sites. Walk-In registration is on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be assured due to space limitations. There is an additional $30 fee for this service. If you are interested in testing on a walk-in basis, you must request a spot in advance. Please call Kathy Schaefer at  972-584-9164 or email her at kathy.schaefer@coramdeoacademy.org to see if space is available. If we can accommodate your student, you must bring the completed registration form, the test fee (payable by check, Visa, Master Card, or American Express) and a student ID with you on the day of testing.

Q. Where and when is testing offered?

A. ISEE testing is generally offered on Saturday mornings and the primary test site is the Flower Mound Lower School Campus.

2012 Test Sessions are scheduled for Jan. 28, Feb. 25, Mar. 31, Apr. 28, and June 2.

Q. What if I cannot test on my scheduled date?

A. If you can not test on your scheduled date, please notify Kathy Schaefer, the Coram Deo Academy Testing Coordinator, by phone at 972-584-9164 or email (kathy.schaefer@coramdeoacademy.org) In addition, you should schedule an alternate date as soon as possible from the ISEE Operations Office (800-446-0320). The cost of rescheduling a test is $15. Payment may be charged to a Visa, MasterCard or American Express account.

Q. How long will the test session last?

A. Students taking the ISEE are asked to arrive at the testing site between 8:30 and 8:45 AM. They will finish between 12:15 and 12:30 PM.

Q. May my child take the ISEE at a location other than Coram Deo Academy?

A. Yes, students may test at any ISEE site throughout the country. You may register online for an alternate test site from the ERB website.
