Dear Parents,

Learning at Coram Deo is in full swing. Students are finishing up the first quarter with remarkable achievements. From the youngest PreK child to the high school debater, classical education requires practice and mastery and bears much fruit.

I hope you'll enjoy reading about some of our students' amazing accomplishments and will come visit us soon.

Warm regards,

Coram Deo Academy Students Advance in the 2012 National Merit® Scholarship Program

Each CDA graduating class for the last three years has had two National Merit Finalists and at least three Commended Students. Recent announcements from this prestigious scholarship competition indicate that this tradition may continue.

National Merit Semifinalists

In early September, about 16,000 students nationwide, or approximately one-third of the 50,000 high-scorers, are notified that they have qualified as Semifinalists. To be considered for a National Merit® Scholarship, Semifinalists must meet high academic standards and all other requirements for Finalists. Coram Deo Academy is pleased to announce that two students have been named semifinalists in the 2012 competition.

National Merit Commended Students

Two additional CDA students have received Letters of Commendation. In late September, more than two-thirds (about 34,000) of the approximately 50,000 high scorers on PSAT/NMSQT® receive this distinction in recognition of their outstanding academic promise.

National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP)

The National Hispanic Recognition Program was initiated in 1983 to identify outstanding Hispanic/Latino high school students and to share information about them with interested colleges and universities. CDA is honored to have a Hispanic Scholar for the second year in a row.
